Why my commute will change in 20+ days in May - here comes a traffic circle

S. Milledge Ave at Whitehall Road

Intersection Improvement project

This is a three legged Y-configured intersection with a combination of yield and stop approaches on the south side of Athens Clarke County. It is a major commuter route into the University of Georgia from the Eastern Portions of Athens Clarke County and Oconee County that experiences high traffic volumes during the AM and PM peak rush hours.

I drive to and from Athens at least four times and sometimes as many as eight times a day. The most convenient route for me is east on Simonton Bridge/Whitehall Road toward Milledge Avenue near the road that leads to the Forestry School property leading down to Flinchum's Phoenix among other impressive flora and fauna.
Road project will detour Simonton Bridge, Whitehall Road traffic beginning in May
