SUSPECT SOUGHT
On Sunday, September 20, 2015 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to the Greenway in the area of Martin Luther King Jr Pkwy near College Ave in reference to a female being attacked by an unknown individual. The female was walking on the Greenway when she was grabbed from behind. She was able to fight off her attacker but suffered minor injuries during the assault. The suspect fled the scene. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male possibly in his 40's. He is believed to be less than six feet tall with a stocky build, scruffy facial hair and pockmarks on his face. He was also described as having a tattoo of red lips on the right side of his neck.
After an extensive search of the area by police, the suspect was not located. During the search, clothing discarded by the suspect was discovered. A Billabong t-shirt, bluish gray in color, and a Fox hat, white in color, were identified by the female as being worn by the suspect during the attack. With assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, a sketch was completed by a forensic artist and is believed to be a very accurate depiction of the attacker.
