Better Georgia

Something new is coming to Athens.

The Classic City has long been a center of progress in our state, and is home to powerful movements for change. That's why we're proud to announce that a new progressive film competition is coming to Athens this November.

Cause + Effect is an annual film festival showcasing short films from young artists who wish to identify social, political, environmental or economic issues facing their communities and propose potential solutions.

Gun violence. Voting rights. Climate change. Student loan debt.

Young filmmakers across the state are submitting original pieces on topics that matter most to their generation. This festival is not only a way to support these activists in their work, but a chance to inspire others to make a difference as well.

That's why we want you to join us as we present these films. We'll be at Ciné in Athens on Sunday, November 8 for a reception at 6:30 pm. At 7:30 pm, we'll show you the top submissions on one of Ciné's iconic screens.

The event is free to attend, so mark your calendar today. We want you to meet the filmmakers. We want you to watch the films. And, most of all, we want you to spread their message.

Join us on November 8, and support the powerful work of these young activists as they start a conversation on the most important issues of their generation. We can't wait to have that conversation with you.

Sincerely,

The Cause + Effect Team

P.S. We can't put on this festival without the generosity of our sponsors.

Parents/Supporters of Clarke County Schools, The UGA Office of Sustainability,The Athens Area Arts Council, The National restaurant, The UGA Odum School of Ecology, Ciné, Team Clermont and Bel-Jean Copy/Print Center have already supported our efforts. Will you join them as a sponsor, or pitch in $25 to cover expenses?
