A message from OCONEE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL
Because of field conditions at Warrior Stadium, the first round playoff game between Oconee County High School and Cedartown High School will be moved from OCHS to North Oconee High School. The heavy rains of the last two weeks – combined with the effects of two games played in that timeframe – have simply left our field in an unplayable state.
Staff from OCHS and Oconee County Schools went to great lengths this week attempting to get the field ready for Friday night's game, and we are grateful for their efforts. A helicopter was brought in Monday, and OCS also worked with an outside turf company in an attempt to get the field in playable condition. We would also like to thank the volunteers from our community that came to OCHS Wednesday night and showed true community spirit.
After consulting with our administration, head football coach, the OCS maintenance department, the outside turf company, and the Georgia High School Association, the decision was made to move the game to ensure the safety of the student-athletes of OCHS and Cedartown High School. The game will begin at 7:30 PM this Friday, November 13. There will be no reserved seating for the contest.
