Animal advocates push for change at Oconee Animal Control - Oconee Enterprise: News

If there is any "new" political frontier for me personally in Oconee County in 2015, it has been animal related. This group of dedicated volunteers knows no allegiances to political parties or dogma, other than saving lives of animals.  I was honored to adopt and foster a wonderful chocolate brown pit bull terrier mama dog named Katrina, and through this process I became reacquainted with the amazing individuals who donate their time and often homes to save animals from being euthanized at our less-than-adequate facilities. Thank you so very much to Ashton Keegan and her mother Kim Crooks Keegan for allowing me the privilege of providing a place for Katrina to call home. The Oconee Enterprise writer Michael Prochaska passionately portrays an accurate overview of the  bureaucratic and parliamentarian struggles of the largely unsung and every day heroes who walk the dogs in the shelters and actively seeks new homes for abandoned or returned canines.
