The Lion is Back!

On Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 8:00 AM try out your whip on the Lion of Oconee.

The 62 mile course has 2,850 ft of climbs! There are optional routes of 17, 25, & 35 miles all with great SAG stops.

The Td'O Central party (start & finish) returns to Tifosi Optics world headquarters with the big tent and and La Parrilla will be there with a Fajita Bar ($5 per plate ... cash only)!

Kids are FREE! We allow kids (under 17 years of age as of 5/21/16) to ride the Tour d'Oconee for free as long as they're accompanied by at least 1 paying adult!

A t-shirt is only guaranteed for pre-registered riders. Hats are also available.

Bring your own cooler. Parking is free at the event.

Pre-registration packet pickup is available at Sunshine Cycles in Watkinsville (Main St.) on Friday night from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM.

Race day registration is available at the event and opens at 6:30 AM. We don't accept credit cards at the event.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
