Oconee County’s Crooked Creek Road closing for 45 days beginning Friday
The widening and reconstruction of Mars Hill Road is
continuing in Oconee County, and as a result, Crooked Creek Road will be
closed to traffic for 45 days beginning Friday, according to the
Georgia Department of Transportation.
Traffic will be detoured through Carriage Hill Road to
Hodges Mill Road, then to Mars Hill Road. This closure and detour will
allow the contractor to complete construction on Crooked Creek Road,
according to a Georgia DOT news release.
Currently, the project is 62 percent complete, with a
scheduled completion date of May 2018, according to the DOT. The project
was awarded to Auburn, Ga.-based G.P.’s Enterprises Inc. in July 2014.
