Two elections down, one to go! Thanks to your support, the Jim Powell campaign for Public Service Commissioner is on a roll. Jim won the Democratic Primary with 85% of the vote, and on November 4 was the top vote-getter in the General Election, receiving more than 1.7 million votes statewide.
Now, one very important step to victory remains: the General Election Runoff on December 2, 2008. Runoff elections are a very different dynamic, and conventional wisdom is that Democrats do not return to the polls for runoffs. We will have to prove that thinking wrong this year!
It will take additional campaign funding for that to happen. Jim's opponent is raising money from the utility industry's executives, corporate lobbyists and lawyers. Jim has pledged not to do so. We need you to join us. Please click here to make an online contribution today.
In this year's presidential election, we saw what can be done when Democrats come together for change. President-elect Obama will be a great President, but change is also needed in Georgia's U.S. Senate delegation and on the Georgia Public Service Commission. The "two Jims" – Martin and Powell – will be strong additions to the Democrats' winning team in 2008.
Jim Powell needs your help. Please forward this message to all of your family, friends and other contacts to let them know victory is in sight, but we must turn out again for this runoff vote. Absentee voting will start very soon, and advance voting will be held the week of November 24.
Keep in touch, and let's keep the winning momentum going for Jim Powell!
Thanks,
George
