HOUSE DEMOCRATS MOURN THE LOSS OF STATE REPRESENTATIVE QUINCY MURPHYATLANTA, GA – Georgia House Democratic Caucus mourns the loss of State Representative Quincy Murphy (D – Augusta)."His involvement in the community of Augusta and dedication to the State will always be remembered, and he will be deeply missed," said Rep. Wayne Howard. "I am honored to have called him a friend."First elected in 2002, Representative Murphy served House District 127 and was on the Appropriations, Higher Education, Insurance, and Transportation committees. He also served as treasurer of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus. A recognized businessman, Rep. Murphy worked in the insurance and financial services industries in Augusta beginning in 1979. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Augusta, where he was a deacon, former Trustee Ministry Chairman, and former Church Treasurer.Representative Murphy is survived by his wife, Linda Dianne Dunton, and two adult children, Jennifer Alisha and William Quincy, III.The family asks for privacy while grieving but ask that well-wishers keep them in their prayers.
