 CAPOMACCHIA TRACTS REZONED, SUBDIVIDED
Town Council held a special called meeting / public hearing on December 30, 2013 to consider the rezoning and subdividing petitions submitted by Tony Capomacchia. It was well-attended, and after robust public discussion the petitions were approved.

As a result of Council's action, what were 2 tracts are now 4, consisting of about 20.4, 14.4, 10.0, and 31.7 acres. Yet the number of houses that could someday be built there has been reduced from 41 to approximately 12. Noting this clear benefit to the Town, council members Steve Holzman, Jason Wisniewski, and David Lawrence voted in favor of the changes. Violet Dawe recused herself from the vote, as her farm borders the property at issue. There is a slight conflict between surveys concerning the boundary between her property and one of the Capomacchia tracts, and so Council's approval as to that one tract is contingent upon the conflict being resolved. That happens to be the tract for which Mr. Capomacchia has a buyer.

Kudos to Mayor Mike Beall and Town Clerk Carolyn Pritchett for getting all the prerequisites done in such a short amount of time.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
