Thousands using new Georgia online voter registration

State officials say thousands of voters have used Georgia's
new Web-based programs to register ahead of the May 20 primary.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that more than 4,000 voters had used the new online and application-based voter registration programs as of early Wednesday morning to beat the April 21 registration deadline for the upcoming primary.

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced the launch of the
Web-based systems in late March, saying the programs are expected to
save local elections boards time and money.

Georgians looking to use either the online system of the application
must have a valid driver's license or state-issued identification card
