Without a witness, they just disappear.

Drove down and bought some greens down yonder on Colham Ferry Road this weekend

The Pastures of Rose Creek

Greetings everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic week and enjoyed this great weather we have been having!

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of the summer. Many people will be spending time with loved ones, grilling out or some time on the lake.

On this holiday weekend however, I ask that you take a moment to honor those Americans who gave their lives fighting for this country. Over the years, many brave men and women lost their lives in defense of the United States, regardless if they agreed with the politics behind it or not. I always go back to thoughts of their family. They were fathers and sons. Wives and daughters. All of which were taken from us way too soon...

At the Pastures of Rose Creek, we have two veterans. Allen served an enlistment in the Navy. And I, Russell, served in the Marine Corps. So, I understand that for some of us, it hits a little harder. I personally have lost friends in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I imagine that many of you have also lost someone.

When I think about those I lost, I often come back to a line from the 2009 film Taking Chance, "You're his witness now. Without a witness, they just disappear." I believe that we should not only be respectful and grateful to those fallen military members, but we owe it to them to share their story as well. When you look at all the horrible events happening throughout the world today, I can say that we are truly blessed in this country, because when evil arises, we have always had brave men and women to stand in our defense.  Semper fidelis ("Always faithful" - Marine Corps motto).

Oh, the places we'll be and people we'll see...
